Ward 7 Communications Intern
The Ward 7 Cleveland City Council Office is looking for candidates to apply for a paid internship to support community engagement to connect with Ward 7 residents and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a passion to serve people, make meaningful connections to capture stories and share information to reach a broad base of community members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work to develop and enact the Ward 7 Communications Plan; Create graphics for social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter; Prepare content for Ward 7 newsletter/engagement materials; Produce video and capture photography in the community and at events; Develop and implement innovative strategies for social media growth; Assist with crafting targeted messaging on civic issues; Assist with event logistics and participate in community meetings, town halls, and various community outreach events; Collaborate with the Ward 7 Team on key projects; and Other duties as assigned.

Strong written and oral communication skills and attention to detail; Strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork; Ability to create compelling graphics using an up-to-date graphic design platform; Commitment to expanding the community outreach for Ward 7; Ability to effectively communicate and engage with the public; and Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS: The Communications Intern position in the Ward 7 office is a part-time position. Intern will be paid $15/hr (up to 15 hours/week). The position will require a flexible work schedule, including working nights and weekends on an as-needed basis.

Ward 7 Public Affairs Intern
The Ward 7 Cleveland City Council Office is looking for candidates to apply for a paid internship to support the day-to-day operations of the Ward 7 Cleveland City Council Office. The ideal candidate will have a desire to help people during their time of need, make meaningful connections to break down barriers for people to access government and community services and share information to reach a broad base of community members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Conduct research and prepare policy briefings on identified policies; Assist with constituent services (providing information about programs/policies and facilitating access to services); Prepare briefing summaries before meetings/events and debriefing summaries after meetings/events; Assist with the implementation of the Ward 7 Communications Plan; Assist with event logistics and participate in community meetings, town halls, and various community outreach events; Collaborate with the Ward 7 Team on key project; and Assist Ward 7 Councilwoman and Ward 7 Executive Assistant, as needed.

Ward 7 Executive Assistant
Councilwoman-Elect Stephanie D. Howse is currently looking for an Executive Assistant to serve the residents and other stakeholders of Cleveland’s Ward 7 community. Below you will find the Values, Required Skills and Role and Responsibilities that are ideal for the Ward 7 Executive Assistant.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain the schedule for Ward 7 Councilwoman.

Organize meetings and events.

Prepare communication correspondence (policy briefings, newsletters, postcards, social media posts, press releases, constituent letters, etc.).

General office duties (answering phone calls, reading, responding to emails, filing, sorting mail, etc.).

Present and facilitate at public meetings on behalf of the Ward 7 Councilwoman.

Analyze, interpret, and communicate information in a manner that is understandable for the intended audience.

Reduce the barriers in government services by finding the answers of questions asked by community members.

Have fun and find joy in serving the Ward 7 community.

The Ward 7 Executive Assistant is an employee of the City of Cleveland, with a salary of approximately $48,000/year (including benefits). The Ward 7 Executive Assistant will start service on Tuesday, January 3, 2022.
